Sunshine

the weather this week is amazing but some shade refuge might be nice to escape a future sunburn

Yesterday

I'm ripping your posters off the wall
I'm moving the boxes into the hall
I stop when I hear a drumbeat call
Must be a sign, it is time

I need to take myself away
From the pillowed hand on which I stand
And throw me out of the side of a plane
And I'll just see where I land

I will have to pull my heart away
'Cause if I never leave I'll ruin yesterday

It's not like my feet are stuck to the floor
It's not like I'm wanting to know about the door
I want you to throw my shoes in the fire
And I'll watch the souls burn on the funeral pyre

And I'm over and it will change my position
And I'll know that nobody, nobody's listening
And that's easy for me and it's better for the soul
And it's better for you and it's better for all

I will have to pull my heart away
'Cause if I never leave I'll ruin yesterday
I will have to pull my heart away
'Cause if I never leave I'll ruin yesterday

I'm over with words, I'm moving in lines
And all that I put is jump up inside, jump off the side

I will have to pull my heart away
'Cause if I never leave I'll ruin yesterday
I will have to pull my heart away
'Cause if I never leave I'll ruin yesterday

I will have to pull my heart away

Street art by Swoon:

Her real name is Caledonia Dance Curry and she went to the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. Most of her work is wheatpastes of figures. The last photograph is of an installation she did in the Museum of Modern Art that I got to see in October 2010 and  Banksy was in the show too!!

if you haven't already, watch the documentary Exit Through the Giftshop

The Countdown

I made a paper chain today to count down the final days of high school. Only a little over a month left. This last part has gone by so quickly. It's bitter sweet. More sweet though.

In the Trees

How amazing is this tree house restaurant? It's in New Zealand and is called The Redwoods Treehouse and was designed by Yellow to Pacific Environments Architects.

Tree House
A tree house, a free house,
A secret you and me house,
A high up in the leafy branches
Cozy as can be house.

A street house, a neat house,
Be sure and wipe your feet house
Is not my kind of house at all --
Let's go live in a tree house.

Hungry?

Like i said earlier, you must read The Hunger Games trilogy. If you need convincing read my recommendation I posted earlier.

These books are amazing and now they are being made into movies! Due date for the first one in late March of 2012.

The bummer part is that there is no way the movies will be able to top ANY of the books.

Jennifer Lawrence (from Winter's Bone) will be the main character, Katniss.

RULE: You have to read the book before you see the movie. I am giving you advance notice so no excuses.

The Most Beautiful Sound to be Heard

Mumford and Sons at the SB Bowl on April 18th, 2011.

an UNFORGETTABLE experience

easily the best concert of my short little life thus far.  They sounded better than their album which just goes to say how amazing they are that they don't need to tweak their voices or any sounds.  Every seat at the bowl was full and the crowd was IN LOVE.  Earlier that day my mom had met a family who had driven down from Portland to see them.  And it was so worth it.

"love the one you hold, and i'll be your gold, to love and to hold, lover of the light"
-mumford and sons

I really could not have been more impressed.  A plus of this concert was that it attracted quite a beautiful crowd.  It was one of those places where you could (not really...imagination though) build your own closet, "I'll take that dress, those sandals, that lace top..." etc. you get it. Beautiful people there listening to beautiful music played by more beautiful (british!) people.

The Tallest Man on Earth opened for Murph & Sons, which only made things better.

Merci Ahnika pour les billets, bisous pour toi!

Being a Kid

Found some funnies my mama had written down when I was 4 years old:

One day after pre-school Elizabeth commented, "Mommy, Jill says we have different tongues and some tongues like some food and some don't. So we buy different things for our tongues. But I still love you."

Our neighbor died on January 9, 1997.  Elizabeth said, "Mommy when I grow up and get older and have white hair and die I want to be with 'Choosey' [my baby doll] and all my teddies."

"We have our own stuff and own own things so we don't go in there and that's a deal. Matty's not allowed in mine and that's a deal. If Hannah wants to go in mine, she gotts to ask."

"Mommie how I know what day is it?"
(How do I know what day it is?)

"What the time it is? Why?"

"What you say next?"

"Her said that her want to go night night"

"How your day was?"

I really don't know what was going on with my grammar. Especially those last few.

Some of my brother's words and their translations (1997):

"No me how"- I don't know
"Me how"- I know
"Syrup"- Ketchup
"Me find book read green ham"- Read me Green Eggs n' Ham

and a picture from my brother to me:

Advice on Being Lonely

"Learn your way around loneliness. Make a map of it. Sit with it, for once in your life. Welcome to the human experience. But never again use another person's body or emotions as a scratching post for your own unfulfilled yearnings."

-Elizabeth Gilbert, Eat Pray Love
